Apple Watch shipments projected to grow to 27 million units in 2018


Thanks to stronger than expected sales of Apple Watch, which has been available since April 2014, supply chain sources have upgraded their shipment projections for next year.
Unnamed supply chain sources now expect shipments of the Apple wearable device to reach 27 million units, which is higher than the previous forecast of 23-25 million.
Initially, Apple Watch was promoted as a fashion timepiece with smart functions.
That strategy failed to yield desired results so Apple doubled down on fitness and health aspects of the device. The release of Apple Watch Series 3 with a speedier chipset and LTE functionality in September 2017 has certainly helped increase sales of the Apple wearable.
This isn’t the only Apple product that may see a surge in shipments next year: AirPods, revered analyst Ming-Chi Kuo of KGI Securities recently said, could sell double the units next year.
On a related note, a recent report from Taiwan’s Economic Daily outlet has spooked investors by claiming that Apple may have lowered iPhone X orders for the next quarter due to the handset’s high price and supposed lack of innovation (this literally happens every year).

iPhone X shipments are now estimated to reach between 30-35 million units in the fourth quarter of 2017 and stay flat or drop slightly in the first quarter of 2018.
